Project overview:

Aussie Buckets is a supplier of excavator attachments in Australia, Roof to Ground has extensive experience working with Heavy Equipment for the construction, quarrying, demolition and mining sectors. The website did not represent Georges core values, such as its strong customer service, accurate information about products and easy accessibility of Products.

In addition to the numerous categories of buckles, grasps, hitches, breaker and wear parts included in the catalogue, many users were unsure of what type of product they were looking at and struggled to find their way around the catalogue. The core objective of the project was to design a clean, modern and customer-centric web experience that will encourage customers to purchase products.

High-Resolution Imagery, Structured Layouts & Consistent Product Descriptions were developed to support how to communicate about the durability of each attachment and the excellence of Engineering of Each Attachment. The Brand Journey (from 2018 to today) is highlighted in the “Our History” section. The Brand focuses on providing Australian Operators with Reliable Value & Purpose Built Attachments. The “Range” section includes Advanced G.E.T Wear Solutions’ C-REX, ProTect, and ProMite products, which allow customers to easily identify each product’s performance benefits.

The New Website uses Improved UI/UX Features to enable better User Engagement by, among other things, Improving Navigation, Integrating Analytics, Creating an Intuitive Content Structure; thus, enabling users to locate Products More Quickly, Prepare Quotes More Quickly, & Help Establish Aussie Buckets as the Market Leader for Heavy Equipment.

The Problem

Many problems plagued the previous version of our website with respect to usability: unclear navigation of products, low-quality images used to represent products, and insufficient classification of items such as buckets, grabs, hitches, breakers, and wear parts made it difficult for customers to find and compare products.

The project kick-off identified the following challenges:

 Unstructured Product Navigation

Attachment categories are difficult for users to navigate due to the significant differences in tonnage, application, and specifications, which resulted in a high bounce rate and poor user confidence in site.

  1. Lack of Visual Communication

Heavy construction equipment should have high-quality detailed images of all items; however, the previous version of the site used lower quality images that did not properly show the robustness, strength, and engineered precision of their products.

  1. Limited Product Categorization

Users are sometimes unable to discern buckets, grabs, hitches, breakers, and wear items; thus, making it challenging for contractors and operators to determine which item is appropriate for their specific needs.

  1. Missing Technical Clarity

Critically important information (tonnage ratings (1-400 ton), warranty information, and types of applications) was not organized effectively and caused confusion and ultimately led to an increase in phone calls from customers asking for clarification regarding products offered.

  1. Outdated UI/UX Design

Designing a website with the appearance of a basic interface does not provide an adequate amount of visual hierarchy nor does it meet today’s industry standards (expectations) for what a modern website should be for the Industrial Equipment Industry. By lacking visual hierarchy, there is less trust in the website and therefore less user engagement.

The Solution

The new design for the Aussie Buckets website maintains an emphasis on usability, organisation and helping customers make informed decisions about the products they are browsing. The product categories were restructured to be more obvious and user-friendly, allowing customers to easily navigate through the listing of products based on their needs: Buckets, Grabs, Attachments, Hitches, Breakers & Performance Tools.

All categories now include images of each product, Tonnage Range and an easy to read Product Description to give customers instant insight into the relationship between each product.
The Hero Image has been redesigned to reflect a modern look. Bold text with high contrast graphical presentation reflects the strength of the company and reliability of the products.

C-REX, ProTect and ProMite were loaded onto a card-based template on the website so users could easily view the wear protection offerings visually and also quickly navigate to the full range pages.
The website was redeveloped using ReactJS, NextJS and NodeJS for optimal user experience through increased speed and scalability in its technology. Google Tag Manager, GA4, HubSpot, and Microsoft Clarity were added to provide insights-driven marketing and user behaviour tracking.

The Result

Aussie Buckets has transformed its website to create an experience for the user that is easy to navigate and uses design that invites people in and encourages them to convert when they arrive at the site. Aussie Buckets has seen a significant increase in site traffic as a result of the increased use of high-resolution images and an improved user interface/user experience.

By creating product categories and providing information about each product, potential customers are now able to easily locate the right attachment for their excavators. The new design of the product pages (About Us, Our Offerings, and The Product Line) gives potential customers a clearer view of the quality of Australian engineering and innovation capabilities. Additionally, the new website design has increased consumer trust in the Aussie Buckets brand; this increase in consumer trust has resulted in an increase in the number of potential customers reaching out to Aussie Buckets regarding product offerings.
