Project overview:

Wish is a cutting-edge and contemporary e-commerce platform designed to provide a seamless, intelligent, and enjoyable shopping experience for all consumers no matter their age, race, sharing or purchasing preferences. Serving as a one-stop shop, Wish holds a multitude of products that will satisfy every demographic and lifestyle need from cool and stylish apparel for men, women, and children elegant and trendy home decor and gifting to kitchen essentials, accessories, watches, bags, and bottles.

In addition, Wish may become more than just an online shopping destination and may evolve into a multi-purpose digital commerce ecosystem. While it sells retail items, it also offers Custom Software Development, CRM Development, and E-commerce Development service on it’s marketplace. This combination of retail products and development across the e-commerce world means the platform is able to engage with consumers as well as business clients, with the ability to empower brands to increase their digital footprint and operational efficiencies with innovative software development solutions.

The inception of Wish was established with the bold ambition of creating an AI-driven, cloud and backend-based, and performance-based e-commerce platform merging technology and customer-centric design. Wish deploys intelligent algorithms to personalize, provide automated workflows, while ensuring quicker data-driven results to engage the customer while improving conversions.

The Problem

Before the new design of the platform occurs there were multiple severe issues present on the site which negatively affected both user experience as well as business function. Examples of these issues included; Poorly designed navigation, slow page load times, Outdated Technical Support, and not enough AI-based Personalisation, which all created low levels of user engagement, reduced conversions, and fewer opportunities for B2B growth due to the challenges faced when visiting the site.

The project kick-off identified the following challenges:

  • Poor User Experience (UX): Users faced confusion with the vast number of sections to navigate through, becoming increasingly overwhelmed and leading to a bounce rate that was too high because visitors could not locate products quickly.
  • Weak Back-End: Unoptimized database queries without caching caused slowdown and server time out far too often, affecting the reliability of the website and causing frustrated customers to abandon their carts.
  • Speed Problem:Heavy video files, large image loads, and unnecessary code caused significantly slow loading times with pages taking longer to load. The result was poor user engagement and lower conversion rates.
  • Lack of Personalization:The website lacked quality AI-driven product recommendations, impacting user engagement and repeat purchases. Customers received generic suggestions, reducing the likelihood of cross-selling or upselling.
The Solution

It was important to utilize a strategic and data-driven approach to define the Wish re-build as a smarter, scalable backend-optimized e-commerce platform. Most importantly, the backend needed hardening, and all AI personalization needed to be fully integrated with complete modular support for B2C in-retail and B2B service operations. Performance, automation, and customer experience—all decision making—was based on these priorities.

We created a best-in-class PHP backend architecture combined with algorithms and CRM integration to ultimately produce an e-commerce solution for the future: efficient and seamless, engaging, and a machine for growth.
The backend was redesigned with Python (Django) to ensure scalability and speed. PostgreSQL queries were optimized with caching to improve access time for customer data, and REST APIs were integrated for CRM and payment functions. Several new features were added that integrate AI recommendations, personalized dashboards, and smart in-app searches with a chat feature to increase user engagement and conversion rates.

A custom CRM was created to track leads, follow up on activity, and automate email campaigns to stay in front of potential customers. The dashboards included real-time analytics, allowing the business to make data-driven decisions. Additionally, we acted as designer and developer on a Business Solutions page to promote the software and CRM services through inquiry forms and client success stories. This enhanced trust among B2B businesses while supporting lead generation.

The Result

Wish has been redeveloped with several important enhancements to performance and brand perception and engagement. The backend was re-developed in django using optimized postgre queries that helped improve stability, reliability, and the performance of the Wish platform, to execute large sums of data. Caching and performance tuning also improved downtime issues, and allowed for data to be processed more quickly ultimately improving user experience even under heavy traffic.

AI-enabled precision of personalization contributed substantially to customer engagement with the Wish platform. The checkout experience was streamlined onto one fast page along with various payment options which improved the transactions and minimized cart abandonment.

This led to an overall increase in sales and also contributed to improvement in conversion rates. For the business side, another section titled “Business Solutions” offered a suite of integrated CRM tools which provided Wish with better B2B visibility and ease of use for companies reaching out, asking questions, and collaborating.
